The region of Garhwal in U.P. is exceptionally beautiful. From time immemorial, man has been attracted to the Himalayas. In july when the snow starts melting, multi-colored flowers emerge from the fertile soil.July-August is the best time to visit this valley,because in this season one can see it in it's full glory.During this season of three months,About 600 varieties of flowers bloom in the valley.Visit to the Hemkund Sarovar at an altitude of 14,500 ft is an unforgettable experience. It takes about 6 hours to ascend a steep climb of 3,500 ft.Come June and Valley of flowers comes alive. Thousands of tiny, wild flowers start blooming all over the valley. No one has ever planted any flowers here. It's a creation of nature and god.

This flower bedecked valley was first discovered by the british mountaineer- Frank Smith in 1931. He and his colleagues were coming back from Kamet Peak expedition, when they lost track and accidently came upon this wonder of the world. The month was June and the valley was in full bloom.It's a carpet of lush green grass covered with multicoloured flowers for miles together. And each flower has it's own beauty. Big-small, Red-white, Blue-green- it is a heady mixture of colours and scents.Some of the flowers last only for a week, and then a new variety starts blooming with new color and new scent. After September they once again disappear for a long hibernation under the snow.Each of us must visit this valley at least once in his lifetime because no amount of words, photographs, films can do justice to the beauty of this valley. It has to be seen to be believed.
